We All Have To Start Somewhere

The morning started bright and early with a 4:20 wake up call to get to the gym. I did 40 minutes on the treadmill and played a little game with myself. Every song I would change the speed and setting, slow and no incline one song and then faster and incline for the next song. The slow walking was set at 2.2 and the fast walking was 3.0 and I varied the incline between 2,4 and 6. I know this may ridiculously easy to some people, but I wasn’t sure I would make it to the end! I’m only posting the speeds so that one day I can look back and see how far I have come!

After that I headed over to the weights section where I did the following workout. Once again, these may seem light, but remember, I’m just starting out and we all have to start somewhere.

Side Lateral Raise: 3 sets, 12 reps, 10lbs

Dumbell Bench Press: 3 sets, 12 reps, 10lbs

Tricep Kickback: 3 sets, 12 reps, 5lbs

Low Cable Rows: 3 sets, 12 reps, Level 4

Alternating Hammer Curls: 3 sets, 12 reps, 10lbs

Back Extensions: 3 sets, 12 reps, 50lbs

Air Bike: 3 sets, 12 reps

I was spent and exhausted after all of this and headed home. Thankfully the kids had late start this morning, so I was able to shower and eat breakfast before taking them to school. This morning I had a breakfast burrito

Breakfast Burrito:

  • Whole Wheat Tortilla
  • 2 Scrambled Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons Salsa
  • 1oz Cheddar Cheese

I was pretty surprised at how filling this burrito was!! I love the combo of eggs and salsa and this new salsa that I found at Costco has the perfect amount of heat. I also had a banana on the side.

My mid-morning snack was supposed to be cottage cheese and fruit, but I can’t eat cottage cheese, no matter how many times I have tried it, I just can’t like it! So, I had yogurt with chia seeds and another banana.

I wanted to like this yogurt, but I just wasn’t a fan. Something about the taste was just off, I’m hoping the apple cinnamon one is good, because the passion fruit was absolutely disgusting and I won’t buy this one again either.

This post is getting pretty long, so I’ll end with my lunch. My meal plan called for a chicken vegetable salad, but I forgot to get the chicken out of the freezer, so I just had a chicken sausage instead and the vegetables today were tomatoes, celery and carrots. All topped with a new (to me) salad dressing from Trader Joe’s…and it’s another winner!

  1. Good for you, Jen- and you’re right- we all have to start somewhere! I think it’s great that you’re already thinking ahead to looking back at this post to see how far you’ve come. :)
Have you tried whipped cottage cheese? I like Friendship brand. I also only like salt-free cottage cheese, which is an acquired taste, for sure.
I have tried the blood orange chobani and was NOT a fan. Too sweet and just… blech. The apple cinnamon is really good though. It’s a bit sweet for my taste (probably because I’m so used to eating plain yogurt) so I added a little plain yogurt in. I haven’t had the passion fruit though. My favorite all-time Greek yogurt is Fage 2% with lemon and vanilla extract and a little stevia with sliced banana. That combination is UNREAL.

  2. I absolutely love breakfast burritos! Have you tried adding hot sauce to cottage cheese? I love it like that!

I think the blood orange is actually my favorite of the three new flavors, but I like tangy shit. :D

  3. So glad to see you are back to blogging, exercising and eating well. Sometimes it can get a tad overwhelming trying to do it all so I understand that you need a break from time to time. I took a month long blogging break back in Dec (even though I wanted to blog, I made myself take advantage of the downtime to rest). I came back with a renewed excitement for it all! Good luck with your new path and I know you will be able to look back in a few months and see how far you have come!
